Budanov: Ukrainian Telegram channels must be identified and regulated

The Head of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence, Kyrylo Budanov, believes that the work of the messenger Telegram in Ukraine needs to be regulated.

He stated this in an interview.

“I am absolutely for the closure of the social network Telegram. Not just the closure, but let’s say, the systematization — equating Telegram channels to media outlets, specifying who the owner is. Let everyone understand who the owner is, where the information comes from. Let them eventually pay taxes. This is right,” Budanov said.

At the same time, the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine added that the main thing is to eliminate anonymity.

Kyrylo Budanov also expressed the opinion that during the full-scale invasion of Russia, Ukraine has not yet learned to adhere to the rules of information hygiene.
