In Pryluky, a couple was detained for the systematic sale of methadone

In Pryluky, a 42-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were systematically involved in the distribution of psychotropic substances, particularly methadone. They have been detained.

This was reported by the Chernihiv Region Police.

Operatives and investigators of the Pryluky District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Pryluky District Prosecutor’s Office, uncovered the illegal activities of a 42-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman who were systematically engaged in the distribution of psychotropic substances. During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers documented a number of instances of the sale of a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance – methadone.

During authorized searches in the dwellings of the suspects, police discovered and seized blister packs of "Methadone" tablets, medical documentation, mobile phones, money, plant-based drugs, and ammunition for automatic weapons.

The suspects were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility.

Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Pryluky District Prosecutor’s Office, are investigating criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (distribution of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogs), Part 1 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal possession of narcotic drugs), and Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives).

The detainees face a penalty of up to ten years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
