Cynical profit: fraudsters extort thousands of dollars from relatives of missing military personnel for "information"

Читати українськоюЧитать на русском

Officially, there are about 8,000 military personnel in Russian captivity. More than 70,000 people are missing, including civilians.

Often, families live in this uncertainty for years. And, of course, they seek any information. As a result, they become easy prey for fraudsters. People are promised photos, videos, or even a speed-up of exchanges, for which they are asked to pay from 500 to 7,000 dollars.

Such cynical exploitation of someone else’s grief should not exist. Unfortunately, it does, and fraudsters actively take advantage of the vulnerability of families whose loved ones are missing.

Therefore, large amounts are extorted from families of missing military personnel, promising to "find information", photos or videos, or even "speed up" exchanges. The story you will see in the video is about just one of these fraudsters, who "earned" over 4 million hryvnias from promises.
