Kyiv City Council session postponed due to scandal: Klychko refused to dismiss Povoroznyk

On Thursday, September 25, the Kyiv City Council session was postponed due to a scandal that occurred the day before at the faction coordination council involving Klychko. The mayor once again refused to dismiss his first deputy, Mykola Povoroznyk, whose reinstatement through the court at the end of summer we had recently reported. The mayor gave the faction leaders an absurd explanation for his refusal, after which all five simply stood up silently and left the room where the coordination council was taking place.

This is reported by Informator.

This is written by the publication Dzerkalo Tyzhnia in a piece about the "Mistrust Case" of the mayor. According to its author, Inna Vedernikova, the decision to submit the draft resolution on Vitaliy Klychko’s dismissal to the Kyiv City Council and to postpone the session was made after the incident at the coordination council on Monday, the 22nd. Vitaliy Klychko once again denied the Kyiv City Council faction leaders’ request to dismiss the mayor’s "right hand," Mykola Povoroznyk.

According to the publication, explaining his refusal, the mayor told the deputies that he could not do it due to a court decision. This refers to the July decision of the Pechersk court, which reinstated Klychko’s "right hand" after the Kyiv City Council’s decision to suspend him at the June 10 session – the judge simply prohibited the city council or the Kyiv City State Administration from taking any actions to implement the deputies’ decision. The faction leaders then reminded Klychko that this decision does not apply to his own orders (only the city council’s).

"I spoke with him (Povoroznyk - Ed.), but he refuses to resign because he doesn’t know what to tell his wife and children," Vitaliy Klychko "issued" in response.

According to "Dzerkalo Tyzhnia," after this, the faction leaders simply stood up silently and left the room. On the same day, deputy and leader of the "Servant of the People" faction Andriy Vitrenko submitted an initiative to the Kyiv City Council for a vote of no confidence against Vitaliy Klychko himself. He had preliminarily coordinated it with "Holos," "Batkivshchyna," "Unity," his own faction, and the "Platform for Life and Peace" group (formerly "Opposition Platform - For Life").
