Kyiv developer evaded payment of almost 5 million hryvnias in VAT

In the Kyiv region, officials of a company specializing in residential and non-residential real estate construction were exposed. The developer, earning considerable money, had been intentionally evading the payment of value-added tax for several years. The case of tax evasion has now been submitted to court, but there is a motion for exemption from criminal liability.

The Bureau of Economic Security ensured the reimbursement of 4.9 million UAH in unpaid taxes by the developer operating in the field of residential and commercial construction. As reported by the BES, company officials had been deliberately avoiding the payment of value-added tax for an extended period. Violations were discovered by detectives of the BES Territorial Administration in the Kyiv region. 

The basis for initiating the pre-trial investigation was an analytical product prepared by the management specialists. Subsequently, the conclusions were confirmed by a forensic economic examination, which recorded losses to the state amounting to 4.9 million UAH. However, the person responsible for conducting the financial operations of the development company managed to avoid criminal liability.

After the chief "financier" of the company was suspected, the funds were quickly reimbursed in full. The person responsible for financial operations in the company was notified of the suspicion under Part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - tax evasion. The criminal proceedings have been submitted to court, but with a motion for exemption of the suspect from criminal liability.
