The Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, at the end of September 2025, made the decision to disband the operational-strategic group of troops "Dnipro," which was led by Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, reports Ukrainska Pravda on Monday, October 6.

The OSG "Dnipro" was responsible for the eastern front line from Zaporizhzhia to Kharkiv region. Its functions will now be transferred to other troop groupings and newly created corps.

According to UP, Drapatyi will retain his position as the Commander of the Joint Forces and, together with his team, will be redeployed to the northeastern direction of the front, where he will lead one of the troop groupings. However, his area of responsibility will be reduced by approximately half.

One of the media sources believes that the liquidation of OSG "Dnipro" under Drapatyi’s leadership is «a way to eliminate a competitor».

«This step changes nothing, as all troops are commanded by Syrskyi one way or another. What reforms? Not a single corps is yet commanding its troops, no one has the right to maneuver», — a military source noted.
