Development of Nyvky Park: Case of Deputy Head of KCSA Petro Olenych sent to court
NABU and SAPO have sent a case to court regarding the illegal transfer of part of a nationally significant natural reserve (Nyvky Park) for development.
NABU reported that in November 2019, the Director of the Department of Land Resources of the Kyiv City State Administration, who at the time of the crime’s detection was the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, received a land management project for review, which effectively envisaged the development of part of Nyvky Park. At the same time, in July 2019, the same project had already been submitted for review and was sent back for revision because the plot belonged to a natural reserve. This concerns Petro Olenych.
However, the official ignored this fact and, using false information about the plot not belonging to a natural reserve, submitted a draft decision to the deputies of the Kyiv City Council for the transfer of the land plot to a private company for the construction of a residential and office complex.
As a result, the company received a 0.6-hectare part of the park for development, while the Kyiv territorial community lost the right to use it and suffered losses of approximately 6.4 million UAH.
