Kupyansk under partial control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Russians failed to capture the city
Kupyansk is under partial control of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, while units of the Russian Armed Forces have not been able to fully capture the settlement, a Ukrainian officer reported. However, there are certain concerns regarding the organization of the defense.
Information about the capture of Kupiansk by the Russians is not true, wrote a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman with the call sign "Alex" on the Telegram channel "Officer". Ukrainian Defence Forces fighters are present in the city, and fighting continues.
The post by "Alex" about the situation in Kupyansk appeared on the morning of October 16. It states that Ukrainian Armed Forces units have not left the city, and Defence Forces fighters control part of the settlement: it is not specified which neighborhoods or streets are meant. The officer added that there are issues with the defense of the city.
"The defense is in complete chaos, but as of today-yesterday [October 15, 16 — ed.] no one has abandoned the city. Part of Kupiansk is under the control of the Defence Forces," — the post reads.
