In Dublin, Ireland, a 17-year-old teenager from Somalia has been charged with the murder of 17-year-old Ukrainian Vadym Davydenko.
This was reported by the Irish public broadcaster RTE.
On the evening of October 18, the 17-year-old Somali teenager, whose name is not disclosed due to his age, appeared before the Dublin District Court.
Present in the courtroom were a representative of the Child and Family Agency (Tusla), a Somali interpreter, and a significant number of police officers, including some in protective gear.
A detective sergeant reported that the teenager did not respond when the charge was read to him. The defense lawyer did not apply for bail but requested that his client receive urgent psychiatric and medical care while in custody.
The judge granted this request.
The teenager was remanded in custody to Oberstown Detention Centre in Dublin. He is scheduled to appear before the Children’s Court again next week.
The Irish Taoiseach, Tánaiste, and other representatives of the Irish authorities, as well as the Ukrainian community, have expressed shock over the murder of 17-year-old Ukrainian Vadym Davydenko, who had arrived in Dublin less than a week ago.
