DIU: Russia has started serial production of guided aerial bombs with a range of up to 200 km
Russia has moved to serial production of new guided aerial bombs capable of hitting targets at a range of up to 200 kilometers.
This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Vadym Skibitskyi, during the forum "Energy that Holds Ukraine".
According to him, Russian developers have improved the so-called universal planning and correction modules (UPCM) that are installed on ordinary aerial bombs with calibers of 250, 500, 1500, and 3000 kilograms. This allows the munitions to be guided and significantly increases the range of use.
"Indeed, during September-October, the Russian Federation was developing and has now reached sequential combat experimental use of aircraft bombs with new control modules. They assume that the range and combat radius of such bombs will be about 200 kilometers," Skibitskyi said.
The DIU representative emphasized that the first strikes with the new munitions have already been recorded on Dnipro and other cities in Ukraine. According to military intelligence, the Russian Federation is also trying to enhance the jamming resistance of these systems against Ukrainian electronic warfare systems.
Skibitskyi confirmed that in open sources the new bombs might be referred to as "Hrim-1" or "Hrim-2".
"The name can be different - ’Hrim-1’, ’Hrim-2’. We are talking about the fact that the combat radii of use of such bombs will be 150-200 kilometers. According to our data, some of the latest tests they conducted reached a range of 193 kilometers," he explained.
According to estimates from Ukrainian intelligence, Russia is already transitioning to serial production of these weapons, which enhances the air
