Director Andriy Bilous, accused of harassment, opens his own theater Dark Club Theatre

Director and former director of the Young Theater, Andriy Bilous, who is accused of sexual harassment, will open his own theater, Dark Club Theatre.

This was reported by the online magazine «Wonderzine Ukraine».

An employee of the Young Theater, Svitlana Mamedova, told the publication that in the performance «Attempt on Loneliness» announced by the theater, former students of the director, as well as Maksym Zerko, an actor of the theater «Kult», where Bilous will soon stage a performance, will perform.

«Druha Stsena» reported that actors of the Young Theater Anastasiya Blazhchuk, Ivan Potapov, and Tetyana Steblovska, as well as People’s Artist Tamara Yatsenko, will appear in the performance. Later, information about Anastasiya Blazhchuk’s participation in the performance was refuted.

Svitlana Mamedova noted that «Attempt on Loneliness» was in the repertoire of the Young Theater, but director Dariya Nazarenko, who now works at Dark Club Theatre, "took" it. She also emphasized that Daria was someone close to Bilous, as she is a graduate of his directing course and worked as his assistant.

According to Svitlana, Bilous’s actions did not come as a surprise to the employees of the Young Theater.

«We are confident that nothing will come of this and it will be a complete failure. As a society, we must completely ignore this manifestation of perversion, not sponsor it, and await actions from law enforcement agencies regarding Mr. Bilous,» she added.
