"I re-educated him": Lvova-Belova publicly admits forced "Russification" of a kidnapped boy from Mariupol

Maria Lvova-Belova, for whom the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children, has given a new interview that sparked a wave of outrage. The Russian official detailed how she abducted and «adopted» a boy from Mariupol, then forcibly shaped him into a «Russian.»

According to Lvova-Belova, the boy named Filip «brought negativity into their family» because he «had a special attitude toward Russia.»

«He said that everything Russian, including Moscow, irritated him. He continued to read Ukrainian news, sing Ukrainian songs, and say that he loves Ukraine,» — the official admitted.

She noted that she «spent a lot of time changing the boy’s identity,» «re-educated him,» and achieved a state where he «stopped thinking about Ukraine.»

«Now he comes to Mariupol and says he no longer wants to be there,» — she added, calling it the result of «upbringing.»

This statement sounded particularly cynical against the backdrop of Lvova-Belova repeatedly denying the fact of forced deportation of Ukrainian children.

Meanwhile, international organizations claim that at least 20,000 Ukrainian children have been forcibly taken to Russia since the start of the full-scale invasion. According to investigation data, about 6,000 children ended up in so-called «re-education camps,» where they are forced to forget their native language, anthem, and flag, while teenagers are trained for military service.

Lvova-Belova’s confession essentially confirms the mechanism of forced Russification of abducted Ukrainian children, which Moscow cynically calls «salvation.»
