In the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation, an attack occurred on the "Balashovskaya" substation with a capacity of 500 kV, which is a key facility of the Southern Energy System of Russia.

This was reported by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko.

The substation provides electricity to the Volgograd Military District, facilities of the Russian Ministry of Defence, and important transport energy hubs in the Saratov–Voronezh direction.

Earlier, Russian forces lost a similar substation, "Veshkayma," which also had strategic importance for the country’s energy infrastructure.

Disruptions at these facilities could significantly affect the operation of military and civilian infrastructure in the region, as well as the stability of energy supply in the southern part of the Russian Federation.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly struck the dam of the Belgorod Reservoir with HIMARS rockets. This was reported by Russian media.

It is noted that as a result of the attack, several buildings with technical equipment were damaged, as well as the lifting mechanisms of one of the discharge sluices. The dam itself was allegedly not damaged, and there is no threat of flooding to nearby settlements. A civilian and a National Guard member sustained multiple shrapnel wounds.
