"Every 10 meters lies a dead occupier": Kuzyk about the battles near Pokrovsk
The situation near Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, which the Russian army has been storming for about a year and a half, remains extremely difficult.
This was stated on air at "Radio Svoboda" by Petro Kuzyk, commander of the "Svoboda" battalion of the National Guard’s "Rubizh" Assault Brigade.
Russian troops are attempting to break through the defenses of Ukrainian forces using numerous assaults and infiltration tactics, he confirmed.
«The enemy has total superiority in armor, artillery, means of influence, and so on,» – noted Kuzyk.
The commander explained that Russian troops are not trying to directly assault fortified positions but are instead bypassing them through dense plantations and forest strips. Such groups operate in small numbers, «seeping through» between combat formations and accumulating closer to the city.
«We flew a drone along this path – every 5-10 meters lies a dead occupier. There is a video where one of them walks, stepping over their «comrades»… I spoke with a prisoner, and he said: «I was already shocked at first,» – he used a stronger word. He said: «I started counting how many are lying here. By the time I reached your positions, I had made a firm decision to surrender,» – Kuzyk relayed the prisoner’s words.
