In Poland, a man assaulted a Ukrainian schoolboy for speaking his native language
In Poland, a man beat a Ukrainian schoolboy for speaking his native language on the phone.
A shocking incident occurred in the town of Kazimierz Dolny: an adult man attacked a teenager from Ukraine right in a grocery store. The boy was buying water and talking on the phone in Ukrainian when an unknown man approached and punched him in the face. The schoolboy’s nose started bleeding.
The victim turned out to be a student of the Jan Kochanowski Witkiewicz School Complex. The child did not require hospitalization, but psychological assistance was provided at the school. The school director noted that about a third of the students are foreigners, mostly from Ukraine, and such incidents had not occurred before.
The Kazimierz Dolny police are already investigating, reviewing surveillance camera footage and interviewing witnesses. The materials will be handed over to the prosecutor’s office, which will determine whether to classify the attack as a hate crime or not.
The co-owner of the store confirmed the incident and condemned the man’s aggression. Local residents are demanding that the attacker be punished. «These children are here without their parents. They should feel safe, just like everyone else,» wrote activist Beata Rosłaniec, who was the first to report the incident.
