Gerasimov was given a "last chance": Putin demands to capture Pokrovsk by mid-November, — "ATESH"
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, General Valeriy Gerasimov, may be dismissed if the Russian offensive operation near Pokrovsk in Donetsk region fails.
According to data from the partisan movement "ATESH," which operates within the structures of the Russian Armed Forces, the Kremlin is extremely dissatisfied with Gerasimov’s results and how he presents the situation on the front in his reports. In particular, this concerns his recent statement about the "encirclement" of Ukrainian forces near Pokrovsk — these claims have been criticized even by Russian experts and military bloggers.
According to sources, Vladimir Putin has set a specific deadline for Gerasimov — to capture Pokrovsk by mid-November. This order is seen as the general’s "last chance" to retain his position.
"Against the backdrop of this ultimatum, a sharp intensification of ’meat-grinder tactics’ is being observed in the Pokrovsk direction. The command is throwing huge waves of personnel into suicidal attacks to meet the order at any cost," writes "ATESH."
It is also reported that the most likely successor to Gerasimov is Colonel General Viktor Poznikhir, one of the deputy chiefs of the Russian General Staff. Since 2016, he has regularly represented the General Staff of the Russian Federation at official briefings of the Ministry of Defence, particularly on issues of missile defense, international military security, and analysis of US and NATO actions. Previously, Poznikhir held the position of First Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate.
