A shooting occurred in Dnipro: a repeat offender beat two SSU employees

Shooting at the restaurant «Latariya» in Dnipro. Two SSU employees injured.

The incident occurred on the evening of October 28 around 22:40 at the restaurant «Latariya», located in the Dnipro district of the city of Dnipro. According to preliminary information, a conflict arose between two employees of the Security Service of Ukraine and a local resident while they were at the establishment.

The misunderstanding quickly escalated into a heated argument, after which the men went outside to «settle the matter». On the street, the situation intensified — one of the SSU employees, Dmytro Piltyay, pulled out his service weapon, a «Glock-17» pistol, and began threatening his opponent.

In response, the man struck the employee on the head, causing him to lose balance and fall, after which the attacker seized the weapon and fired approximately twelve shots at both SSU employees.

As a result, Vitaliy Kushnarov sustained injuries to his left foot and a fracture of the nasal bones, while Dmytro Piltyay was taken to the hospital with a head injury.

The attacker attempted to flee, but law enforcement officers quickly identified and detained him.

He was identified as 59-year-old Dnipro resident Yuriy Shatalov, who admitted his guilt in the incident.

At the scene, law enforcement officers seized the «Glock-17» pistol and other physical evidence.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
