Cooperation with Russia in 2014: Former Deputy Valentyn Chernov detained in Odesa

In Odesa, ex-deputy Chernov was detained on suspicion of treason, — media.

According to the investigation, at the end of February 2014, Valentyn Chernov, collaborating with representatives of Russian political structures, organized a pro-Russian event in Odesa, during which he called on Russia to send troops allegedly for the «protection of the rights of the Russian-speaking population».

Chernov also headed the Southern District of the Coordination Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots, which was involved in provocations that led to the tragedy in Odesa in May 2014.

Previously, he served as an assistant to Serhiy Kivalov and ran for the city council from the Ukrainian Maritime Party and OPFL.
