The Ukrainian large landing ship "Kostyantyn Olshanskyi," captured by Russians after the occupation of Crimea, has effectively turned into an empty shell due to years of looting. Inside, traces of equipment theft are evident.

This was reported by the Telegram channel "Krymskyi Viter," citing its own sources. The public channel notes that the Russians used the ship as a "donor," meaning they removed parts from it to repair other vessels of the same type in the Russian fleet.

It is known that hermetic doors, parts of portholes, tank compartment covers, and ramps have disappeared from the ship.

What is known about the ship "Kostiantyn Olshanskyi"

"Kostyantyn Olshanskyi" is a Ukrainian large landing ship of Project 775. The vessel is designed for loading and transporting military equipment and landing forces from shore or water, their transportation by sea, and disembarkation. The ship can also deliver humanitarian cargo, set up mine barriers, or evacuate civilians from dangerous zones.

It was built in 1985 in Gdańsk (Poland) for the Soviet Black Sea Fleet. Since 1996, the ship came under the control of the Ukrainian Naval Forces. From then on, the ship and its crew participated in military exercises and humanitarian missions. For instance, in 2011, "Kostyantyn Olshanskyi" evacuated 193 people from Libya, including 85 Ukrainians.

During the illegal annexation of Crimea, on the night of March 6, 2014, the ship, along with six other Ukrainian vessels, was blockaded in Lake Donuzlav. After part of the crew refused to side with the occupiers, the Russians captured it by storm.

In March 2020, the occupiers moved the ship to Engineering Bay in Sevastopol. Later, it was officially enrolled in the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Three years later, restoration work began, but the Russians’ plans were disrupted by a Neptune missile, with which Ukrainian forces attacked the ship. As a result of the strike, "Kostyantyn Olshanskyi" and several other ships were rendered inoperable.
