400 thousand euros in 5 minutes: Sweden sets a record for fundraising for Ukraine’s energy sector
In Sweden, on February 3, a national fundraising campaign was launched to support Ukraine amid the energy emergency. Within the first five minutes of the telecast, 400,000 euros were collected.
This was reported by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Sweden, Svitlana Zalishchuk.
The fundraising was announced on the national television channel SVT. According to the diplomat, within the first five minutes of the broadcast, viewers donated 400,000 euros. The campaign organizers noted that they had never encountered such a rapid pace of fundraising before.
To organize the assistance, the Embassy of Ukraine reached out to the Swedish charity organization Radiohjälpen. Their website states that anyone can join the campaign by transferring funds to the organization’s account with the note "Ukraine."
The Keep Ukraine Warm campaign has several implementation directions in Sweden. In addition to fundraising, the embassy is coordinating partnerships with businesses and Swedish energy companies to provide practical assistance.
Zalishchuk reported that details regarding further support will be announced after the delivery of equipment to Ukraine begins.
