NABU: The leadership of a district court in Odesa region earned over 3 million dollars from a scheme for evaders
The income of the management of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District Court in Odesa Region from draft evaders, according to NABU, amounted to 3.64 million dollars.
Case 991/2002/26 will be considered by Judge Moysak S.M., with the hearing at the High Anti-Corruption Court scheduled for April 17. Members of an organized criminal group, which operated within the judicial system and assisted conscripted men in illegally leaving the country and obtaining deferments from mobilization, will stand trial.
The scheme involved the court in Odesa Region issuing mass rulings on the alleged sole upbringing of a child by the father under fabricated circumstances. This allowed men to evade mobilization and leave the country under the pretext of childcare. The cost of such a ruling started at 3,500 dollars.
In total, the investigation uncovered 1,040 rulings by this court that enabled conscripted individuals to leave the country.
To conceal their activities, the perpetrators organized a "back office" of the court in a law firm and even advertised their "services" on social media. In this way, the participants of the scheme earned 3.64 million dollars.
