"Tactics of a Thousand Cuts": RF is trying to create a 20-kilometer buffer zone in Sumy and Kharkiv regions
Russian occupiers seek to establish a 20-kilometer «buffer zone» along the border in Sumy and Kharkiv regions, so they are capturing border villages.
This was reported by the commander of the Joint Forces Grouping, Mykhailo Drapatyi, in a comment to UP.
According to Drapatyi, the Russians are gradually "nibbling off" new border villages in Sumy region – including areas where the front line doesn’t even run. In military terminology, this is called "tactical diversionary actions" or the tactic of a thousand cuts. After such maneuvers, there are no advances with heavy equipment or active assaults.
"It cannot be said that this is a ’secondary front’ or a ’front to draw our forces.’ No, every Russian grouping has its own tasks. The ’North’ grouping, positioned opposite us in Sumy and Kharkiv regions, — is creating a buffer zone or, as they call it, a ’zone of influence’."
The commander of the Joint Forces Grouping clarified that "in general, we have identified 12 sections where the enemy – with forces from an assault company to a battalion – will try to expand the zone of control."
"In particular, these are the Krasnopilskyi, Velykopysarivskyi, and Zolochivskyi directions," – Drapatyi added.
