Tragedy at the station in Irpin: man died under the wheels of a passenger train

Late in the evening of March 11, 2026, in Irpin, a man fell under the wheels of a passenger train and died. The incident occurred approximately at 23:17 at the city’s railway station. According to police, the deceased stepped onto the tracks, ignoring the train’s warning signal. The police are launching an investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy.

The report of the incident was received by law enforcement from an eyewitness. He said that at the station in Irpin, a person got under the wheels of the train. Upon arriving at the scene, police ascertained that the victim walked onto the tracks, disregarding the signal.

The next morning, ITV published footage from surveillance cameras positioned above the station. The recording shows a man heading toward the pedestrian crossing over the tracks as a train approaches. Seconds before the collision, he steps onto the track without ensuring safety—and the electric train knocks him down. A moment before the impact, the man glanced to the left and froze in horror on the tracks...

The victim died instantly from the injuries sustained. Investigators from the Bucha District Police Department opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The police remind citizens of the need to follow safety rules on railway tracks.
