In Zakarpattia, a TRC official was detained who is suspected of extorting two cars from a businessman

Law enforcement officers detained the head of a department of one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centers in Transcarpathia. He is suspected of demanding an unlawful benefit.

The Office of the Prosecutor General reports this on social media.

According to the investigation, the lieutenant colonel previously worked in a similar position in the Khmelnytskyi region. There, according to law enforcement, he organized a scheme to obtain an unlawful benefit from the deputy director of one of the enterprises.

The official demanded two cars from the entrepreneur for personal use. In return, he promised not to take measures regarding the mobilization of the company’s employees.

In fact, the entrepreneur was faced with a choice: hand over the vehicles or face intensified mobilization measures regarding his employees.

According to the investigation, in April 2024, the military officer received a Renault Sandero for use, and in August 2025 – a Renault Duster. Both cars belonged to the enterprise.

After the official’s transfer to Transcarpathia, the entrepreneur asked to return the cars or transfer them to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, according to the investigators, the suspect demanded to re-register the vehicles to his close relative. In return, he promised to help remove the cars from military registration.

Under the procedural supervision of the Khmelnytskyi Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the defense sector of the Western region, he was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official.

The court has already selected a pre-trial restraint measure for the suspect. The issue of his suspension from office is also being resolved. At the same time, according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until their guilt is proven in court.
