“Diplomatic Santa Barbara”: Ukraine, US, and RF negotiations postponed again due to war in Iran

The previous round of trilateral negotiations took place in Geneva in February, the next meeting was initially planned for early March, as Zelenskyy reported, during the period of 5–9 March in Abu Dhabi (UAE), however, due to the military operation that Israel and the USA launched against Iran on February 28, the negotiations had to be postponed. Later, media reported that the next round could be held on March 11 in Istanbul, however, it was also postponed due to the priority attention of the American side to the situation around Iran.

After that, Zelenskyy informed that the meeting could take place next week, however, the exact date, as he clarified, would depend on events in the Middle East. However, it was also postponed at the request of the American side.

"There is a whole Santa Barbara with these negotiations because of the war in the Middle East. The Americans said that they are ready for the meeting, but ready only in America. Because the war and security situation prohibits them from leaving the territory of the United States of America right now", – explained the head of the Ukrainian state.

According to Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian delegation is ready to fly to Miami or Washington, meanwhile, the Russian contact group proposed alternative locations – Turkey or Switzerland, but the USA did not approve this option. At the same time, Kyiv confirmed readiness to head to any country.

"It depends on the Americans. They are the organizers of this meeting. We are waiting for them", – added Zelenskyy.
