Ukrainian drone operator shot down two Russian "Shaheds" from a distance of 600 km
A UAV operator from the separate Presidential Brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky destroyed two Russian "Shaheds" with a STING interceptor drone on April 4, while being 600 km away from the target.
This was reported by the brigade’s communications department representative, Serhiy Kolesnykov.
The operator with the call sign "Hulk" was in the deep rear at the moment of the downing, outside the strike zone of artillery, MLRS, and drones of the Russian army. The interceptors themselves operated over the territory of Donetsk region, near the line of combat contact, when the "Shaheds" attacked frontline settlements.
The brigade emphasized the significance of the operation for the entire army. It showed: a drone operator is capable of shooting down drones over various sections of the front from the deep rear without changing his physical location.
"This fundamentally changes the logic of deploying operator resources and the economics of air defence: relatively cheap mobile interceptors destroy expensive enemy strike UAVs, minimizing risks to personnel," the military added.
