In Lviv, two teenagers were sentenced for attempting a terrorist attack: they acted on instructions via Telegram

Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office proved in court the guilt of two 17-year-old residents of Cherkasy region, who, seeking «easy money» in Telegram, agreed to a proposal to commit a terrorist act. The proposal likely came from representatives of the RF. Both were sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment.

The minors acted according to instructions from «curators» in the messenger and were involved in subversive activities against public safety under martial law.

«The boy was to place a homemade explosive device under a car in a public place, and the girl — to provide remote video recording», the prosecutor’s office says.

At the end of August last year, the minor arrived in Lviv and stayed in a hotel. According to the coordinates provided by the enemy, he found a mobile phone and a backpack with explosives in the park. Later, the girl joined him. That same night, they arrived at the parking lot near a residential building and placed the explosives under the car.

«It has been established that the homemade explosive device contained over 4 kg of explosive substance with metal shrapnel elements, which in case of detonation would threaten people’s lives and health, and could lead to significant destruction», the message states.

Law enforcement officers prevented the terrorist act in time — the minors were detained on the spot under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The accused are charged with a completed attempt to commit a terrorist act, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons (Part 2 of Art. 15, Part 2 of Art. 258  of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Until the sentence enters into legal force, the minors will remain in custody.
