Historical maximum exceeded: NBU sets official euro rate at over 51.32 hryvnia
According to the results of today’s trading on the foreign exchange market, the National Bank set the official euro rate at 51.3253 UAH/€, which is higher than yesterday’s 50.7520 UAH/€ — this is a new historical maximum. The previous record of 51.2577 UAH/€ was recorded as early as February 19, 2026.
The increase in the euro currency value is linked to the strengthening of its rate against the dollar on the international market — from yesterday’s 1.1686 to today’s values in the range of 1.1761–1.1801.
Previously, the National Bank, to stabilize rate fluctuations amid the euro’s rise on the global market, lowered the internal hryvnia rate to the dollar (through which the euro rate is recalculated), but today they refrained from this. Instead, they raised the official dollar rate from 43.4372 UAH/$ yesterday to 43.4997 UAH/$ today against the backdrop of a general increase in demand for currency. The volume of interbank trading on the key platform (Bloomberg) on Tuesday increased by a third — from $197.3 million yesterday to $266 million.
It seems that the NBU is preparing for a new devaluation of the hryvnia amid ongoing uncertainty with external financing of the state budget deficit.
The maximum cash euro rate for selling to the population today was 51.8 UAH/€ (AltBank), and the average buy/sell values were in the range of 50.8–51.54 UAH/€.
In the payment card segment, the maximum euro selling price reached 52.08 — such a rate was set by Raiffeisen Bank. The average buy/sell rates were about 50.73–51.57 UAH/€.
