Explosion near a private house in Brovary: suspect in the terrorist attack detained in Vinnytsia region while trying to flee abroad

In Brovary, Kyiv region, on the evening of Monday, April 13, 2026, an explosion occurred near a private house, qualified as a terrorist act. According to investigators, the explosive device was planted in advance and activated remotely. As a result of the incident, a 36-year-old man was injured. Police quickly detained two suspects, one of whom tried to leave Ukraine.

Investigators found out that the explosive device was placed near the fence of a private household. For its activation, a remote method was used - the signal was sent via a phone call. In addition, the criminals prepared video recording in advance: a smartphone was attached to a street pole to record the explosion.

Within a short time, law enforcement officers identified and detained two persons recognized as perpetrators. Among them — a 23-year-old local resident who managed the process online, and a 17-year-old youth from Chernivtsi region, suspected of planting the explosive. The latter was detained at the railway station in Vinnytsia region while attempting to leave the country.

During searches of the suspects, mobile phones, SIM cards, and other items indicating preparation for the explosion were confiscated. According to preliminary data, the suspects may have been following instructions from curators from Russia, who promised them monetary rewards. Currently, investigators are identifying all those involved in the crime and its motives. The investigation continues, and a suspicion notice is being prepared.
