In Lviv, a 32-year-old local resident was detained for attempting to bribe the deputy head of the customs clearance department at one of the Lviv Customs posts. According to the investigation, the man offered 1100 US dollars to let the goods pass without a mandatory customs inspection.

This was reported by the press service of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, in January this year, photovoltaic elements — basic components of solar panels — were attempted to be imported across the border. According to current legislation, such goods are exempt from taxation when imported into the customs territory of Ukraine, but are subject to mandatory inspection.

To avoid the inspection and ensure unimpeded customs clearance and passage of the goods into Ukraine, the 32-year-old Lviv resident offered the customs officer an unlawful benefit. Previously, via messenger, he arranged a meeting to hand over the money.

"The customs officer, having received such an offer, contacted the internal control department of the Lviv Customs. After handing over the materials to law enforcement, he acted under their control. The detention of the 32-year-old Lviv resident took place after handing over 1100 US dollars at one of the gas stations in the Shevchenkivskyi district", — the message states.
