Former Kyiv City Council deputy Aryeva sentenced to suspended term for traffic accident with serious consequences
Former Kyiv City Council deputy from the «European Solidarity» party, Yaryna Aryeva, who is suspected of a traffic accident while under the influence of drugs with serious consequences, has received a suspended sentence.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the court found the woman guilty of committing a traffic accident, but reclassified her actions from violation of traffic safety rules by a person driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs (under Part 2 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) to the article providing punishment for violation of traffic rules without being under the influence of drugs (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Aryeva was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with a ban on driving vehicles for 3 years. Under Article 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the woman was released from serving the sentence with a probation period of 3 years.
“The prosecutor’s office told us that they disagree with the court’s decision and will appeal it. The prosecutor in the case asked the court to sentence the ex-deputy to 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment with a ban on driving vehicles for 8 years. The toxicological examination showed the presence of cannabis metabolites in the defendant’s body”, – hromadske noted, referring to the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
