Zelenskyy enters the top three leaders: legendary singer Dolly Parton tops the Americans’ favorability ranking

American singer and philanthropist Dolly Parton topped the Americans’ favorability rating, significantly ahead of leading politicians. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also entered the top three leaders with a positive rating, according to a UMass/YouGov poll.

In particular, 70% of respondents view Parton positively, and only 5% negatively. Thus, her net favorability rating reaches 65%.

Analysts link Parton’s high level of support, in particular, to her apolitical stance.

“I don’t do politics. I have supporters among both Republicans and Democrats, and I don’t want to offend any of them, so I don’t play political games”, – she said in 2017.

Her charitable activities also play an important role. The Dollywood Foundation has donated over 270 million books to children in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, and Australia.

Among other initiatives — a $1 million donation for the development of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine. She also funded research on childhood infectious diseases and provided over $12 million to families who lost their homes in the Tennessee wildfires in 2016.

Barack Obama took second place with a net score of 14%: 50% of respondents rated him positively, 36% — negatively. Zelenskyy placed third with a net rating of 12%: 35% of those polled have a positive opinion of him, and 22% — negative.

Parton and Obama were the only participants in the poll rated positively by at least half of the respondents.

Among other US presidents, only George W. Bush has a positive net rating — 5%. Meanwhile, Donald Trump received -18%, and Joe Biden — -19%. Singer Taylor Swift has a net positive rating of 3%.

The lowest score in the study was recorded for Russian President Vladimir Putin — -65%.
