Tragedy of one family: during the terrorist attack in Kyiv, the father and aunt of an 11-year-old boy were killed, the mother is in critical condition

As a result of the terrorist attack in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district on Saturday, April 18, six people were killed. Among the attacker’s victims – the father and aunt of an 11-year-old boy. The child himself ended up in the hospital with a gunshot wound. The boy also has a sister.

About this reported Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko. He said that the father died at the scene.

Later, Kravchenko clarified that the mother’s sister of the boy died in the hospital. 

"Regarding the deceased mother of the wounded boy, I must correct the mistake: the one who died in the hospital was not the boy’s mother, but her sister", – wrote the Prosecutor General.

The mother of the 11-year-old boy was also wounded. As of the time of publication, the woman is fighting for her life in the hospital.

It became known later that the injured boy has a sister. The girl’s name is Karina Arbuzova; on the day the tragedy occurred, she was performing in the school dance league.

Kravchenko added that a criminal proceeding has been initiated regarding the shooting of civilians and the hostage-taking in the capital under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a terrorist act that resulted in the death of people.

"The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office. In cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine, all necessary measures are being taken to establish the circumstances of the crime, as well as the motives for its commission", – he wrote.
