«Police just watched»: Anatoliy Anatolich’s wife reported an attack by aggressive young men in central Kyiv

PR specialist Yuliya Yatsenko (Yula), wife of TV presenter Anatoliy Anatolich, told about the event in her Instagram. She posted a video capturing the conflict with men who, according to her, behaved aggressively and provoked an argument.

According to Yula, the incident occurred on April 19 around 23:30 on Independence Square. She was waiting for a taxi with her friends when two unknowns approached them and started harassing, threatening, and provoking a conflict.

The group tried to avoid escalation and moved away twice, but the men did not stop pursuing them. Law enforcement officers were nearby, but according to Yula, they did not intervene. One of the girls approached them personally, but according to her, she received a refusal of help.

Yula noted that the police did not check the men’s documents and did not inquire if they had weapons. Later, another man joined the conflict.

To protect themselves, the group started filming the situation on their phone and loudly drawing attention to the conflict, hoping for a police reaction. However, they did not receive any help.

In the comments to the post, Anatolich also sharply criticized the situation, calling the law enforcement’s behavior a disgrace and one that forms a negative image of the police in society.

The police have not commented on this situation yet.
