“Obviously lacking understanding”: Zelenskyy criticized Kyiv and a number of regions for delaying winter preparations

Plans for preparation for the next heating season have been approved for the regions, cities, and communities of Ukraine. However, Kyiv and several regions are behind schedule.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stated this.

The head of state reminded that all regions and cities have approved resilience plans. These documents define the tasks that must be completed so that Ukrainians are guaranteed to have heat and light in winter, despite any threats.

"The deadline for implementing resilience plans for all cities and communities is September 1 this year. Accordingly, there is a strict schedule for concluding contracts and carrying out works, which must be implemented by all regional and local authorities. Unfortunately, as of today, not all regions are working exactly as needed to protect people," the president noted.

Zelenskyy noted that during the selector meeting with the regions with the participation of Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko and government officials, special attention was paid to Donetsk, Chernihiv, Lviv, Poltava, and Kirovohrad regions, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, and Kyiv.

"In the capital, it is obvious that there is a lack of understanding that next winter sufficient reserve sources of electricity and heat supply must be provided for all districts of the city," he emphasized.

The President added that there are issues with several energy facilities in Lviv region, and emphasized the need to determine who exactly should be responsible for the timely fulfillment of the state task.

In addition, Zelenskyy instructed the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the Minister of Defence, to work with the heads of Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions on additional provision of interceptors and crew training.
