Situation on the front: Offensive on Pokrovsk and Huliaipole, Defence Forces repelled over 40 attacks on key sections of the front

From the beginning of the day on April 20, 139 combat engagements have occurred on the front.

As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy launched 51 airstrikes, dropping 152 guided aerial bombs. In addition, it employed 5035 kamikaze drones for strikes and carried out 2237 shellings of populated areas and our troops’ positions.

On the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk axes, three engagements took place; the enemy conducted 58 shellings of our troops’ positions and populated areas, including two – using multiple launch rocket systems. 

On the Southern Slobozhanskyi axis, the enemy stormed our units’ positions three times in the areas of the settlements of Staritsa, Vovchanski Khutory, and Vilcha. One engagement is ongoing.

On the Kupyansk axis, our defenders repelled nine enemy assaults in the directions of the settlements of Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, Kivsharivka, and Novoosynove. One engagement is still ongoing.

On the Lyman axis, Ukrainian troops repelled two attempts by the invaders to advance near Karmazynivka. One engagement is still ongoing.

On the Slovyansk and Kramatorsk axes, the enemy conducted no offensive actions.

The Defence Forces successfully repelled 18 enemy assaults on the Kostiantynivka axis near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Oleksandro-Shulhyne, Novopavlivka, Stepanivka, and Sofiivka.

On the Pokrovsk axis, the enemy launched 25 attacks. The occupiers attempted to advance in the areas of the settlements of Rodynske, Chervonyi Lym an, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Filia, and toward the settlements of Bilotske, Shevchenko, Nove Shakhove, Kucheriv Yar, Vasylivka, Novopavlivka. One engagement is still ongoing. According to preliminary estimates, today on this axis, 78 occupiers were eliminated and 22 wounded; six units of automotive and 12 units of special enemy equipment were destroyed, two UAV control points, eight artillery systems damaged, 77 personnel shelters, and eight units of automotive equipment. 136 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were destroyed or suppressed.

On the Oleksandrivka axis, the occupiers three times attempted to improve their position by attacking in the directions of the settlements of Kalynivske and Zlahoda. Hryhorivka and Malomykhailivka came under airstrikes.

On the Huliaipole axis, the Defence Forces successfully stopped 17 occupier attacks toward the settlements of Dobropillia, Tsvitkove, Zaliznychne, Hirkе, Staroukrayinka, Olenokostiantynivka, Huliaipilske, and in the Huliaipole area. The enemy launched airstrikes in the areas of the settlements of Tsvitkove, Vozdvyzhenka, Rybalske, Lisne, Rivne, Novoselivka, Charivne, Dolynka. One engagement is still ongoing.

On the Orikhiv axis, the enemy conducted no offensive actions but launched an airstrike on Orikhiv.

On the Dniprovskyi axis, our defenders successfully stopped three assault actions toward the Antonivskyi Bridge.

On other directions, no significant changes in the situation occurred.
