Property on the wife and 1.5 million hryvnias "as a gift": how the SID operative Kovalchuk has been hiding real assets for years

Senior Operative of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine Mykyta Kovalchuk declared one and a half million hryvnias as a gift from female relatives.

This is reported by the anti-fraud project “190”.

A native of Donetsk region, Mykyta Kovalchuk began his career in law enforcement agencies in the Kharkiv region. He obtained his higher education at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, and after graduating from the university in 2018, he joined as an investigator at the Slobidskyi Police Department of the Main Department of the National Police in Kharkiv region.

In 2021, Kovalchuk received a position in the National Police’s Department for Combating Drug Crimes, and a few years later he transferred to the Cyber Police Department and moved to Kyiv. In the past 2025, Mykyta Kovalchuk became a senior operative of the DSI. By a strange coincidence, it was precisely in 2025 that the law enforcement officer’s family began to acquire expensive property and receive million-hryvnia cash gifts from female relatives.

Real Estate

Mykyta Kovalchuk does not own any real estate. His wife, Marharyta Kovalchuk, in February 2025, entered into a lease agreement with preferential right of purchase with the municipal enterprise “Financial Company “Zhytlo-invest” of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council (Kyiv City State Administration). Now the Kovalchuk couple uses an apartment in Kyiv with an area of 99.6 sq. m valued at almost 5.8 million UAH under the agreement concluded between Ms. Kovalchuk and “Zhytlo-invest”.

As of the end of 2025, the amount of her obligations under the agreement was 5 million UAH – that is the amount Marharyta Kovalchuk had left to pay to acquire ownership of the apartment.

Cars

Mykyta Kovalchuk also does not own a car and uses foreign cars belonging to his wife and mother:

• MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER 2008 model year – belongs to the law enforcement officer’s mother, Kovalchuk Nataliya, and has been in Kovalchuk’s use since February 2025. The car’s value is not specified; currently, such a car may cost about 300-350 thousand UAH;

• VOLKSWAGEN CC 2015 model year – belongs to the DSI officer’s wife, Marharyta Kovalchuk. The woman purchased the car in November 2025 for 495 thousand UAH.

Income and Savings

In 2025, Kovalchuk received 226 thousand UAH in salary from the National Police’s Cyber Police Department (before transferring to DSI) and 303 thousand UAH in salary from the Department of Strategic Investigations. He also declared a cash gift from his mother – Kovalchuk Nataliya – in the amount of 500 thousand UAH. And even with such income, the DSI officer applied for 1 thousand UAH in financial assistance under the “Winter Support” program.

Marharyta Kovalchuk received 12 thousand UAH in salary from LLC “ARISTEYA TUR” (EDRPOU code 35289971; this is the tour operator “Aristeia Tour”) and 93 thousand UAH in salary from LLC “LTA UKRAINE” (EDRPOU code 44858384; this is the travel agency Life Travel Agency). In addition, the law enforcement officer’s wife received 1 million UAH as a gift from her mother – Kochubenko Svitlana.

Thus, the lion’s share of the couple’s income consists of million-hryvnia cash gifts from relatives. In total, for 2025, female relatives gave them 1.5 million UAH. However, Mykyta Kovalchuk does not declare any savings – neither his own nor his wife’s. Moreover, the law enforcement officer did not report any cash assets of his family in previous declarations either.
