From the mine in Kyiv to the seized mines of Donbas: How Medvedchuk’s stepson Bohdan Marchenko obtained a Russian passport and became a co-owner of a business in occupied Donetsk

The son of Viktor Medvedchuk’s wife, Bohdan Marchenko, became a citizen of the Russian Federation after the full-scale invasion. Since January 2026, he has been a co-owner of a company that manages business in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region of Ukraine.

This is stated in an investigation by «Slidstvo.Info» and KibOrg titled «Medvedchuk’s stepson obtained a Russian passport and runs a business in the occupied territories».

According to data from the Federal Tax Service, Bohdan Marchenko received a Russian passport in Moscow on November 14, 2022 — three years before his sister, Daria Marchenko, became a Russian citizen.

In mid-January 2026, Bohdan became a co-founder of LLC Management Company «Invest Osnova». His business partner in the company is Russian citizen Marina Voronkova. She previously headed the investment company «Region», where works Viktor Medvedchuk’s brother Serhiy.

«Invest Osnova» manages a number of companies, including the Closed-End Mutual Combined Fund «Berill» and the Closed-End Mutual Combined Fund «Alexandrite».

Both funds, in turn, hold stakes in the Russian company «Industrial Innovations», registered in occupied Donetsk. The company’s main activity is trade in metals and metal ores.

The company «Industrial Innovations» was reported by the «Center for Journalistic Investigations» to have been established on the basis of stolen property of an iron ore plant in Zaporizhzhya region. The director of «Industrial Innovations», Oleksandr Nenych, listed on the «Myrotvorets» website, is a militant of the «DPR» and a member of the «Union of Donbas Volunteers».

According to a report by the Zaporizhzhya Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Nenych and his accomplices caused damages to Ukraine amounting to 7 billion hryvnias: «989,504 tons of iron ore were illegally extracted at the mine’s production facilities and transferred to the disposal of representatives of the occupying administration of the aggressor state».

According to the register, Bohdan Marchenko owns six real estate properties in Ukraine.

Among them is a plot with an 83-square-meter house in Kyiv’s Zhuliany district, as well as another plot and a house twice as large next door. In addition, Marchenko owns half of a land plot and half of a house on Montazhnykiv Street in Kyiv — opposite Viktor Medvedchuk’s estate. After the start of the full-scale invasion, this estate was, according to an agreement with Bohdan Marchenko, guarded by Ukrainian police officers.

Bohdan Marchenko did not respond to journalists’ calls and messages.
