"Fled during transportation" or died from head injury: Donetsk TRC and relatives give conflicting versions of mobilized man’s death

In the Donetsk Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center, they commented on the death of mobilized soldier Oleh Lysenko, which sparked a major public scandal.

According to the deceased’s relatives, the man was detained and taken by servicemen from the Kramatorsk Territorial Recruitment Center to Dnipropetrovsk region, after which he was found on the highway with a severe open head injury.

Despite doctors’ efforts, the victim spent a day in a coma and died in the hospital. At the same time, the military authorities, while confirming the mobilized man’s death, put forward their own version of events, claiming that the citizen allegedly left the vehicle or place of stay voluntarily during transportation.

The deceased’s relatives, human rights activists, and the public strongly disagree with this position and demand that law enforcement agencies conduct a full, transparent, and impartial investigation to establish the true causes and circumstances of the tragedy and bring those responsible to justice.
