On Saturday, June 6, external power supply was restored at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant after a prolonged blackout.

This was reported on social network X by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Zaporizhzhya NPP Power Supply Restored

«This morning, external power supply was restored at the Zaporizhzhya NPP after a 15-hour outage. During this time, the site operated on emergency diesel generators, which provided electricity for cooling the six shutdown reactors», — the Agency said in a statement.

The IAEA emphasized that this is already the 18th loss of external power since the beginning of the war and one of the longest.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi «highlighted the critical vulnerability of the energy system and called for the repair of power transmission lines as soon as possible under the protection of a ceasefire regime mediated by the Agency».
