Zelenskyy: After the night strike in Odesa, more than 300 thousand families were left without electricity

Following the Russian strike on Odesa at night, emergency recovery work continues. Due to the attack, there were interruptions in electricity and water supply, and by morning more than 300,000 families in Odesa and the region remained without electricity.

This was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, electricity supply has already been restored to one-third of the customers so far. Recovery work is ongoing.

«Right now, recovery work is still underway in Odesa after the strike last night. There were power and water outages – all services are involved in restoring supply. By morning, more than 300,000 families in Odesa and the region were without electricity; one-third have already been reconnected, and work continues», Zelenskyy said.

The president thanked the repair crews, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and everyone involved in dealing with the aftermath of the attack.

He also reported on Russian strikes on Kharkiv and the region, Pavlohrad, Kherson, Sumy region, and Zhytomyr region. According to Zelenskyy, it is important that people in all affected regions receive the necessary assistance.

Throughout the day, the president received reports from Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi. Zelenskyy also held a call with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Drapatyi, during which they discussed the protection of Ukrainian cities and responses to Russian strikes.

«There are fully justified responses; for every Russian strike, there will be our reaction. The Russian war will be felt more and more at home, in Russia», the president stated.

Zelenskyy also thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine for continuing the operation against Russian oil refining. According to him, Russian air defense systems and radar stations were also hit, and strikes were carried out on Russian infrastructure in the Azov and Black Sea regions.

The president stated that the only reason the war continues is Russia’s unwillingness to end it.

«This week there will be new contacts with intermediaries, specifically regarding the steps and proposals that are needed. Ukraine is always active in diplomacy», Zelenskyy noted.

He added that new contacts are also planned regarding air defence packages to protect Ukraine and its citizens.
