Mykytas changed his place of residence during the investigation to avoid exposure — prosecutor

During the hearing of the appeal against the preventive measure for former MP Maksym Mykytas, the SAPO prosecutor stated that he had repeatedly changed his place of residence during the pre-trial investigation.

According to the prosecutor, covert investigative actions were carried out at various addresses where Mykytas resided.

«The change of residence indeed took place in order to conceal his illegal activities and out of fear of being exposed by NABU detectives», the prosecutor stated.

During the searches, according to him, law enforcement officers seized more than 50 electronic devices.

The prosecutor also claims that Mykytas and his accomplices feared being exposed by NABU but did not know under which specific proceeding the detectives might arrive. They attempted to determine which investigation was underway and who was of operational interest to NABU and SAPO.

Recall that Mykytas was charged with creating and leading a criminal organization, raiding, illegal seizure of corporate property, interference with the Ministry of Justice registers, abuse of office, and money laundering.
