Zelenskyy did not confirm rumors of a truce: Ukrainian authorities have made no official statement on a ceasefire
In his morning message on September 5, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not mention rumors about a possible ceasefire, which had been actively spreading in Ukrainian public channels the day before. At the same time, there is currently no official confirmation of any agreements on a ceasefire.
This is evidenced by the president’s morning messages and the official representation of the President of Ukraine.
The day before, Ukrainian sources reported on a possible silence regime that was supposedly to be in effect from 00:00 on September 5 to 23:59 on September 8. According to Ukrainska Pravda, relevant instructions may have been given to units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces in various sectors. At the same time, the General Staff or other military command bodies did not officially confirm this information.
Rumors about a ceasefire began actively spreading in Ukrainian public channels as early as the evening of September 4, particularly in channels close to the President’s Office.
At the same time, the day before Zelenskyy had indeed stated the need to ensure silence in the air during the visit of US President’s representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. According to him, the American representatives are to visit Moscow and on September 6 — Kyiv.
However, as of the morning of September 5, Ukrainian authorities have not officially announced a general ceasefire or cessation of hostilities. At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defence stated in the morning about new strikes on Ukraine.
