President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Kyiv with special representatives of US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The negotiations are part of diplomatic efforts to end the war.

This is reported by Ukrainian and American sources.

Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Kyiv on September 6 after a meeting with Russian ruler Vladimir Putin in Moscow the previous day that lasted more than three hours. This is their first visit to the Ukrainian capital.

Before the meeting with the US President’s representatives, Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Ukrainian negotiating team. The President stated that Ukraine is ready for a constructive discussion and its proposals have been prepared.

“Peace is needed. Security guarantees are needed. A dignified post-war peace is needed. Our proposals have been prepared,” Zelenskyy noted.

The day before, the Ukrainian president stressed that Kyiv is interested in finding real options to end the war and expects substantive negotiations with the American side.

The meeting in Kyiv takes place the day after Witkoff and Kushner’s talks with Putin. In the Kremlin, they were described as substantive and constructive, but no specific breakthrough was reported following the meeting.
