"My home. Direct hit": Odesa woman shows aftermath of "Banderol" missile strike on her apartment

A resident of Odesa spoke about the consequences of a direct hit by a “Bandarole” missile on her building. She lost her home and the belongings she had collected over 10 years of living independently.

She shared this in a post.

The woman noted that her apartment had held personal items acquired over 10 years of life and travel, as well as material achievements. According to her, every item in the home was tied to memories.

“My home. Direct hit.

My home, where 10 years of my personal, independent life were preserved — all the possessions from 10 years of wandering the world, 10 years of achievements, material gains, every spoon, plate, or candle that embodied memories or accomplishments. My place of strength, my best view. And in one day, one night — a strike. And loss. And emptiness,” she wrote.

The Odesa resident emphasized that after losing her property, all material values faded into the background when she imagined that she could have been home during the strike.

“So much of everything — and yet nothing, when I imagine for even a second that I could have been there. That my dog always sleeps by the window because it’s summer and hot,” the woman said.

According to her, her apartment was the only one in the building where no one was present that night. It was her apartment, she noted, that took the direct missile hit.

She also thanked her neighbors who helped extinguish the fire in the bathroom that night and searched for people under the rubble.

“I am grateful to the neighbors who put out the fire from the ‘parcel’ in the bathroom at night, who looked for us under the rubble. Who the next day looked at us like a miracle because we are alive,” she wrote.

The woman also expressed gratitude to her friends for help with accommodation, belongings, and support, and to her family for being ready to come at any moment and stand by her.

“I am grateful to all my friends for the place to stay, for the things they gave, for real actions that made me want to cry from gratitude, for their support, for their faith. I am grateful to my family for being ready to drop everything at any moment and truly being with me,” the Odesa resident added.
