The Russian Federation has recruited over 28,000 foreigners for the war against Ukraine: DIU reveals the scale of recruitment
Russia is systematically recruiting foreigners to fight in the war against Ukraine to compensate for losses on the front. According to Ukrainian military intelligence estimates, the aggressor state has already recruited over 28,000 foreign mercenaries.
This was reported by the Chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine Lieutenant General Oleh Ivashchenko in an interview with The Times.
According to him, Ukraine is trying to stop Russian recruitment abroad.
"We are working to stop this by passing information to the relevant security and intelligence services. We also conduct non-kinetic operations to inform the population of the respective countries," Ivashchenko said.
The Chief of the DIU also stated that Russia continues to ramp up military cooperation with North Korea.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, about 8,000 North Korean troops are currently in Russia’s Kursk region. In the future, their number could grow to approximately 50,000.
