The Ministry of Foreign Affairs resumes consular services for men abroad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it has ordered the resumption of accepting applications for consular services for men of mobilization age from May 18 at foreign diplomatic institutions.

This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

The Foreign Ministry reported that after several weeks of a “technical pause” it updated the necessary algorithms for the provision of consular services in accordance with the updated mobilization law.

Starting May 18, men aged 18-60 can apply for consular services, but must also provide military records in paper or electronic form.

“Thus, conscripts need to have a certificate of registration at the conscription station, and those liable for military service and military personnel need a military ID or temporary certificate,” the Foreign Ministry explains.

At the same time, paper documents will be valid “only until the conscript’s electronic account is launched,” after which only electronic military registration documents will be valid. They can be generated independently in the electronic account, starting from June 18.

If a man does not have a paper document on military registration, and the electronic account has not yet started working, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explains, he can register for temporary consular registration or update his consular registration data and then apply for consular services.

Separately, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited three cases when it is not necessary to submit a military registration document:

  • if we are talking about issuing an identity card to return to Ukraine;
  • when the consular action is performed in the interests of a child whose second parent is a foreigner or stateless person;
  • if an arrested or imprisoned applicant applies for consular services.
