President Zelenskyy signed the law on English language
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed Law No. 9432 on the functioning of the English language in Ukraine, which was passed by the Rada in early June.
The Rada website reports this.
According to data on the parliament website, the law today, June 26, was returned to the Rada with the signature of the head of state.
What does the law provide?
Let us remind you that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced a bill on the functioning of the English language to the Rada a little less than a year ago. Parliament adopted the initiative of the head of state in the second reading only on June 4 this year.
The document proposes that English acquire the status of one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine.
Also, according to the law, now in Ukraine officials, military officers who serve under contract, middle and senior police officers and others must know English.
Knowledge will be tested in a free exam, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science.
