General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the loss of Ukraine’s first F-16

As the General Staff reported, this happened during the repelling of a massive attack by the Russian Federation.

"During the operation to the next target, one of the planes lost contact. It was later discovered that the plane had crashed and the pilot had died," the statement said.

A special commission of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has been appointed to investigate the causes of the accident, working in the area where the plane crashed.

Meanwhile, the Air Force anonymously told Voice of America that various versions of the crash are currently being investigated, including "friendly fire" from Ukrainian air defence, technical malfunctions and pilot error. However, the exact causes of the crash will only be known after the investigation is complete.
