Monobank clients complain about the "freezing" of their cards

At the beginning of 2025, Monobank began transitioning from MasterCard cards to VISA, as the latter offered more favorable terms for the next 5 years. An informational campaign was conducted among clients, offering them to make the transition voluntarily. For those who did not, MasterCard cards are blocked, and a VISA card is simultaneously opened. However, this often causes dissatisfaction among Ukrainians.

"I tried to find out the reason for the blocking of my card. It turned out that without my permission, Monobank reissued my card. I filed a complaint, and after that Monobank reissued all my currency cards! Without notifying or coordinating with me," reported a Monobank client on the "Minfin" portal.

The bank itself reminded that they are transitioning from MasterCard to VISA cards. Therefore:

• Clients are offered to switch to VISA cards.
• A VISA card has already been created for the client.

However, Monobank noted that since November 25, 2024, MasterCard cashback is no longer accrued. During 2025, the MasterCard will cease its operation.

"This means that your MasterCard continues to work so you have enough time to order a plastic Visa and update your payment details on the necessary resources," Monobank responded to the complaint.
